Founded on World Earth Day, April 22, 2004, the Vishwa Nishane Par Hai © Climate Crisis Awareness Campaign is the brainchild of Dr. Nikhil Kant, a Climate Practitioner and Poetic Climatologist. His pioneering poetic series, "Vishwa Nishane Par Hai", written in Hindi, gave the campaign its name, soul, and driving force. The inaugural poem, written in 2004, was a clarion call to acknowledge the climate crisis not just as a scientific issue but as a deeply personal and emotional one.
This campaign was born from the belief that climate action starts with the individual—through the daily, small steps people already take. Its approach is rooted in the expressive power of poetry, music, storytelling, and voluntary personal practice instead of preaching, prescribing or proposing, bypassing blame and instruction. Dr. Kant’s poetic climatology created a new space for dialogue, connection, and consciousness.
Over the past two decades, Vishwa Nishane Par Hai has become a movement of everyday climate practitioners—teachers, students, artists, professionals, homemakers—who share their proactive actions and inspire others. These stories form a rich tapestry of climate hope and resolve.
Dr. Kant, recognized as a Climate Reality Leader by Nobel laureate Al Gore’s organization, has written over 250 poems—with over 50 dedicated to the climate crisis. His live renditions on TV, digital platforms, and stage performances have made climate awareness deeply accessible.
With a Doctorate, Dr. Kant has authored award-winning research on climate strategy proactivity and earned more than 75 distinguished diplomas and fellowships globally, including UN-sponsored programs.
The campaign gained institutional support with the establishment of the VNPH Foundation by the climate conscious CEO of "Cosmien Tech Pvt Ltd" Mr. Piyuush Kumaar who adopted this campaign, and also when Mr. Ajitav Sinha (Partner, Auronova Consulting), an international climate risk expert, got associated with the campaign as Overseas Coordinator of the Campaign ensuring global outreach.
Co-led by Dr. K Anjali (Convener & Director, VNPH Foundation), a climate researcher with significant work in carbon sequestration, the campaign continues to grow—entirely driven by voluntary action and free of financial transactions. Now, having completed more than two decades of heartfelt climate service, it seeks to engage more like-minded individuals and institutions, to scale its reach and deepen its impact, voluntarily.
Vishwa Nishane Par Hai continues its annual 45-day activity journey between Earth Day (April 22) and World Environment Day (June 5), with poetry, storytelling, and symbolic events worldwide. The campaign’s anthem, recently voiced by singer Ms. Sanghmitra Sahay, and its emblem—featuring a Targeted Globe, Mic/Hands, and Green Sprouts—encapsulate the campaign's mission: to awaken hearts, spark dialogue, and foster collective, creative, and proactive climate action.
